Halifax Regional Police say a 31-year-old man has died following a disturbance involving several people in the city's downtown.

Police say they found an unresponsive man on the sidewalk of Prince Street after 1 a.m. Saturday when responding to a disturbance in the 1700-block of Brunswick Street.

The man was taken to hospital where he died.

Halifax police say one man is in custody and they are not looking for any additional suspects.

They are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact investigators.

Police did not provide any additional details about the disturbance.
