WASHINGTON (AP) 鈥 President Joe Biden said House Republicans' inability to unify behind a speaker candidate, which has prevented the chamber from beginning its legislative business, was 鈥渆mbarrassing鈥 and 鈥渘ot a good look鈥 for the country.
Speaking at the White House on Wednesday before for an event to highlight last year's bipartisan infrastructure law with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Biden said of Republicans, 鈥淚 hope they get their act together.鈥 Biden said that 鈥渢he rest of the world is looking鈥 at the chaotic scenes on the House floor but that his focus was on 鈥済etting things done.鈥
鈥淭hat鈥檚 not my problem,鈥 the Democratic president said of the speaker vote. 鈥淚 just think it鈥檚 really embarrassing it鈥檚 taking so long.鈥 He declined to say whether he had any choice for the speaker job, adding 鈥淚 have no idea鈥 who will prevail.
