WARSAW, Poland (AP) 鈥 Poland's prime minister has made a tongue-in-cheek offer to U.S. actor and director Jesse Eisenberg, who recently gained Polish citizenship, to give him military training that would land him 鈥渢he new James Bond role.鈥
Poland's president earlier this month conferred the country's citizenship on Eisenberg, who has Polish heritage. On Saturday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk that showed him watching a clip of an appearance by Eisenberg on NBC's The Tonight Show.
In that appearance, Eisenberg said, to laughter, that a day after he received citizenship he looked at the news 鈥渁nd the top story was 鈥楶oland now requires all males to participate in military training.鈥欌
In his video, Tusk said: 鈥淒ear Jesse, there's really nothing to be afraid of!鈥 He noted that military training is voluntary.
鈥淪o come over to Poland! And we'll give you such a training that, the new James Bond role? It's yours!鈥
Tusk said on March 7 that his government was to prepare large-scale military training for every adult male in response to the changing . He said that there鈥檚 a need for an army of 500,000 soldiers, more than double the current number, which would include reservists.
On Tuesday, he said the government intends to put through military training each year starting in 2027 as it seeks to build an army of reservists. He said he was "convinced that there will be no shortage of volunteers.鈥
