EDMONTON - Thousands of education support staff around Alberta are set to return to their posts this week as a months-long strike winds down.
The 春色直播 Union of Public Employees says tentative contracts with the Parkland School Division and the Calgary Board of Education were reached and are to be voted on today.
It comes as union members in Edmonton and Fort McMurray reached deals with their employers in a strike that has lasted months over a wage dispute.
Union officials say if members approve the deal, Parkland school staff could be back to work by Thursday and Calgary workers could return by Friday.
Workers in Fort McMurray are to be back on the job Wednesday, while Edmonton staff could return Thursday.
Rory Gill, CUPE's Alberta president, says workers have shown great courage and determination and have "won the respect they deserve."
